Recently we had to refresh our winery list because a few wineries either changed hands or closed. So call ahead of time to be sure you have the adventure you planned!
Tee Off In Southern Illinois
There are plenty of choices for golfers of every skill in Southern Illinois. Private and public courses offer 9 to 36 holes of golf and are spread out through the region. Be sure to call to see if reservations are required. At the very minimum, you may want to be sure your tee-time is available as well as any equipment such as are carts.
Fantastic View Might Be Around The Next Corner
If you haven’t traveled the Shawnee Wine Trail or explored Southern Illinois, you are in for a surprise. Unlike much of Illinois, the southern region is hill country that is explored mostly by two-lane and sometimes narrower roads. There are plenty of one-lane bridges to cross as well. Okay, some of those “bridges” are more like stream crossings, but that isn’t an issue unless heavy rain is an issue! In any case, you never know when your drive is going to expose you to some wonderful scenery!
Have your camera ready and pull far enough off the road if you are going to stop. Be alert, again, many of the roads are narrow, hilly and curvy. Also, don’t trespass, especially in the orchards!
